Carlos Latorre, MD

Dr. Carlos Latorre is a Board Certified Family Medicine physician. Mission Primary Care is his private practice in Vicksburg. He also serves as the Associate Chief of Staff for Primary Care at G.V. Sonny Montgomery VA Medical Center. He is the UMMC School of Medicine Preceptor. He is the former Medical Director for the Office of the Governor, Mississippi Division of Medicaid, and former Deputy Chief Medical Officer for the Veteran Integrated Service Network (VISN) 17.

Dr. Latorre serves as a state delegate to the American Medical Association. He served on the Reference Committee of Constitution and Bylaws 2022 Interim Meeting of the House of Delegates (Nov. 2022), and the Rules and Credentials Committee at the 2023 AMA House of Delegates Annual Meeting in Chicago (June 2023). He was also part of the MSMA delegation attending the Reference Committees: Amendments to Constitution and Bylaws, Medical Education, Public Health, Science and Tech, Finance and Government. He serves as MSMA’s Speaker of the House (August 2023-present); served as Vice-Speaker of the House (August 2020-2023); served as Director District 7 Board of Trustees: (August 2019-2020); served as Medical Service Council District 7, (Aug 2018-2019); and served on Council on Medical Education District 7, (May 2012-15). He was also the Reference Committee Chairman (Committee B in August 2013 and 2015, Committee A on August 2014, 2016, and 2019). He served as President to the West Mississippi Medical Society, (June 2017-present); Delegate to the state convention. (July 2011-present). He was also the MSDH and MSMA COVID-19 Task Force member.

Dr. Latorre held the following Mississippi Academy of Family Physicians (MAFP) positions: Past-President (July 2021-2022); Former Board member (July 2014-2023).  He also held MAFP Foundation positions: Foundation Board President (July 2016-2017), and Board member (October 2011-2017). He was the MAFP representative to the Mississippi Lung Cancer Roundtable MSLCRT is a collaborative of lung cancer survivors, caregivers, healthcare systems, clinicians, public health practitioners, advocates and other partners who work together to fight lung cancer by engaging in research and projects to build health equity across the lung cancer continuum 1st Annual MSLCRT Virtual Meeting.

He is a physician at the First Baptist Church Free Clinic in Vicksburg, MS, Fall 2011 to present. He is also part of the Miss Mississippi Pageant Corporation, Board of Directors (Sep 2019 to present) and Patron Chairman (Feb 2016 to present), Mock interview team (2015 to present); Quality of Life Scholarship (July 2014-2016), and team Physician. He is a Rotary Club member, Vicksburg MS, Fall 2011 to present. He is a former UMMC Alumni Board Member. He is also the Walk with a Doc physician in Vicksburg MS, (Feb 2016-present). He serves as the Volunteer Physician at the International Ballet Competition, Jackson MS (2010, 2014, 2018, and 2023) and the Volunteer Physician at the Sanderson’s Farm Golf Classic, PGA, Jackson Country Club, Madison, MS in 2014 – present; and the Viking Golf Classic, PGA, Annandale, Madison, MS in 2010. He is also the Ultimate fighting Mixed Martial Art Physician, Vicksburg MS, Fall 2014 and Jackson MS, Summer 2015.

He resides in Vicksburg with his wife Nalini and their 19-year-old daughter, Alana. He is a member of Saint Michael Catholic Church in Vicksburg.
